The 2001 Station Fire
On June 24, 2001, the Blue Marlin restaurant was severely damaged in a fire. The flames engulfed the roof and attic space of the old station. Damage is estimated at $300,000. The cause of the fire is reported to be a short in the neon lighting that surround the station's eves. The Blue Marlin Restaurant reopened in early 2002.
