Atlantic Coast Line
The old Atlantic Coast Line station had a very large shelter behind the station and due to drainage problems
they had eight raised concrete platforms. This also allowed for one to enter the cars without needing to step up.
Today only one of the seven sets of passenger tracks are still in place. Track 4 still receives passenger while
an 8th freight track still runs beside. The numerous long and empty track pits show the important place in railroad history
the old station once played.

Time lapse photo before Amtrak moved to a new facility next door. The photo was taken in the late 1980's
by Kenneth Sexton, as people waited for the North bound Silver Meteor.

This photo taken at the Florence station in 1912 pictures cadets of the Carlisle Military Academy based in Bamberg, SC.
This was a charter train for a field trip. You can clearly see the multiple Florence platforms as well as the
shadow of the railroad shed.
