Columbia, Newberry and Laurens Railroad
This CN&L Station was a combination frieght and passenger station built at 630 Gervais Street in 1892.
From 1884 until officaly merged with CSX in 1984 the CN&L survived as important
shortline in the Midlands of South Carolina, carrying coal and other goods.
It was destroyed in the late 1980's as a result of the downtown track relocation program that also
striped the all the stations on Gervais of their rail access. In its place is a new track cut serving CSX and much of the
local rail traffic.
