The new Charleston Amtrak station opened in 2019 after nearly 20 years of planning. This new station was constructed in a portion of the old ACL station's parking lot and one the new station was buit, the former station was demolished. The former station platform was also replaced at the same time. The signage has now been changed to replect North Charleston and not Charlestion as was listed on the former depot. The depot also serves as a bus hub for the North Charleston area.
